Giving Back DELTA |v| Style
As part of the DELTA |v| Semi-Annual Meeting, employees at each regional office recently joined forces to support nonprofits in their local communities. It was rewarding to give back to the communities we work in and a great way for employees to get to know each other outside the office. Not that this should come as a surprise, but the service project reinforced that DELTA |v| employees are hard workers who are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
On June 29th, 26 employees from our Charlotte, Corporate and Digital Media offices united to build a deck and walkway at the home of a Charlotte-area veteran through the nonprofit Purple Heart Homes. Purple Heart Homes is based in Statesville, NC and their mission is to “provide housing for Service Connected Disabled Veterans that is substantial in function, design, and quality fit to welcome home the fighting men and women of America.” We were also able to make a donation of $1,000 to help Purple Heart Homes achieve its mission. Our goal was to bring joy and greater accessibility to Mr. Stokes, the veteran, and we believe we accomplished that goal. Some snapshots from the day are shown below:
On the same day, our five Nashville office employees had the honor of preparing meals through The Nashville Food Project. The meals they prepared will be distributed to those in need throughout the city. The Nashville Food Project’s mission is to “bring people together to grow, cook and share nourishing food, with the goals of cultivating community and alleviating hunger in our city.” The team had a great time getting to know everyone at TNFP and sharing in a day of community service that makes a difference. We are already looking forward to next year’s service project and any opportunities to serve in the meantime.
