SAE Publishes Recommended Practice for HVEDR

Tim Cheek Contributes to Industry Paper

Troy, MI – Tim Cheek, Principal Engineer at DELTA [v] Forensic Engineering, Inc., serves on the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) committee to develop recommended practices for Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders. This group recently published an industry paper describing standards for recording, storing, and retrieving data.

The project was the culmination of work by several individuals with input from an industry cross-section of experts.  Tim has been on this committee since 2004.

The paper is a first tier document that provides minimum specifications for HVEDRs.  A second and third tier are planned that will address data elements and proprietary data that may be recorded.  A copy of this paper is available for purchase through SAE or at http://www.sae.org/technical/standards/J2728_201006.
